To create this bot, you need to plug it into its base and connect it to your home Wi-Fi network. The Neato app will guide you through the initial setup (linking the D4 to Wi-Fi and the name of it, etc.). When the D4 is fully charged it's time to start cleaning.

Once you've got your D4 running, you can make use of the app to create an automatic schedule or manually start a clean anytime you like. You can also control it with your voice using Google Home or Amazon Alexa. If you own an Apple Watch, you can start a cleaning session with a simple tap on the wrist.

This model did well in our lab tests on both hard and carpeted floors, capturing 91.3% combined of debris in serpentine pathways. It's not quite as good at cleaning edges and corners as higher-end models. The sensors on the sides of the D4 keep it about 1.5 inches from walls. It's also iRobot's strongest vacuum, capable of grabbing dirt with more granular debris and larger pet hair, unlike other mid-range models such as the Roomba 960. This is due to the cleaner's larger counter-rotating brushes, as well as a stronger motor that can pull more suction power.

The Roomba 995 is iRobot’s least expensive vacuum, with recharge and resume. However, it does not have the auto-empty feature that the I6+ or I7 offer.
