After a number of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. The project is dubbed the Space Key, it consists of five physical items that unlock a unique digital art work NFT by an artist yet to be identified. The "collectors' piece" was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to just five units. It will be auctioned shortly.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of carbon-fired composite material. It was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research project. After returning to Earth it was made into a QR code, which connects it to the digital component of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that occurs only seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Over 600 million pixels each of the five images, which were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner used a balloon equipped with a camera to take each of the individual shots which were later merged into the final image. The result is an amazing out of the world image that captures the beauty of the Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic look of the car rising from it. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, however the exact date and time of the auction haven't yet been confirmed yet.
