Lever/Lever

A lever is a rod that pivots around a point. When you apply force to the end of the lever, it tends to rotate the fulcrum in the direction of the force. This motion increases the force and lets you lift or move objects that would normally require more force to lift.

You can calculate mechanical advantage by dividing distance from the fulcrum point to the point at which you apply force by the distance between fulcrum point and the end of the lever.

Levers can produce different effects based on the method by which forces are applied. A lever in class 2, for example is prone to turning in the opposite direction when the effort force is applied. The forces generated when you push on the handle of a front door can produce rotational effects that are similar to those.

However, levers don't create energy. They just multiply the force you exert by changing a small amount of effort applied over a long distance into a larger amount of force that is applied over a smaller distance. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and move large amounts of cargo. This is also the principle behind levers found in many everyday tools like crowbars, fishing rods, claws for hammers and even your own legs when you stand on the hand brakes of your car.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc door handles, feature levers on both sides to operate the multipoint locks. They come in a variety of designs & finishes and are suitable for a range of materials like UPVC, Aluminium & Timber doors. They are sold in pairs for the doors, both exterior and interior with screws and spindles included. They are also available in handed and unhanded versions for different users.

These are often used for new builds and can be fitted to replace existing upvc doors. They are usually operated by lifting the levers to throw out all of the multipoint locks before turning the key to close and unlock. They offer a little more security than traditional lever door handles since locking is only done from the inside using keys.

They are not as secure as a cylinder bolt, but are a cost-effective alternative to add security. The only drawback is that they don't have the same level of protection as a cylinder bolt, and consequently don't block access to outside if the door has been left open.

Lever/Snib

Lever latches are the most basic kind of door handles. Pressing down on the lever is a simple mechanism that opens inside the door to keep it shut, and can be locked using keys. Certain lever privacy handles work based on this same principle but with the addition of a Snib (like knobs for doors).

A snib can be a extremely useful tool, particularly in homes where security and privacy are essential. You can use the snib feature to stop your guest from entering until they are ready. This type handle is also used for interior doors such as bedrooms, where you may need to restrict access from the outside.

Snib buttons can cause issues in some cases, especially when you have locks that are old and warped doors. If the snib switch is accidentally pressed, or by someone who is not familiar with it, your door may shut and lock you out. In most cases, you can get in by knocking on the door frame or letterbox, however this isn't ideal.

The system has been tested for 200,000 cycles to ensure long-lasting durability. The handles are constructed of solid metal and are in compliance with BS EN 1670 Grade 5 for corrosion resistance.

Lever/Moveable Pad

This popular style of handle is commonly used on front doors. It is advantageous because it has the benefit of preventing the door being opened without an outside key if the lock has not been deadlocked. This is achieved by using the 'pad-shaped' handle that locks into the gap between the handle and lock case.

This handle is designed to work with upvc door handle replacement multipoint locks that use a split spindle mechanism. This kind of operation requires that the internal lever handle and the external pad handle are both fitted to the same lock case. It is a simple change from the current uPVC handles, but it could also require a change to the lock case or even a new set of handles to accommodate this additional function.

These aluminum lever/movable pads door handles are able to be used on uPVC and feature an easy-to-maintain slide bearing. They also include fixing lugs, spring cassettes and a non-stick slide bearing. These handles have an euro-profile cut out and can be mounted on many uPVC or timber doors.

Lever-movable pads are available in a variety of finishes and suit many different multipoint locks. They are designed to be used with split spindle multipoint locks which have a 92mm cylinder and require a specific split spindle set, as supplied by the lock maker.

The lever/lever handle is among the most popular types of upvc door handles and is available in a range of designs. It is comprised of two inline handles that move and can be locked using either a key or thumbturn cylinder that is inside. Pad handles are an alternative to a lever/lever handle and consists of a fixed or movable pad that can be used to control the lock. These Fullex handles are sprung lever pads that have a snib that can be triggered to stop the latch from closing.
