WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader mod upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item upgrading and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an Item Level Upgrade has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require various methods which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item upgrader kit level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrade gear you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
